Toptal's screeners are technical and our process has increased difficulty so it makes sense that the first questions you saw felt generic. We are engineers screening engineers. Not everyone is comfortable in testing environments, and if you don't want to screen with us, it's your choice. We've been perfecting our screening process for years, and we are confident that it identifies freelancers who have the qualities our clients are looking for.
