A total timewaste!
Had an interview for this role on two separate occasions, once in February 2020 (just before Covid) and again in 2021.
I prepared extremely hard for a week using the pre-interview information pack provided to me which was a competency based interview.
The interview itself was fine; face to face with 2 interviewers, technical along with a couple of competency based questions. Was told I would hear back within 3 weeks, long wait. I didn’t hear anything after 3 weeks, chased up HR on multiple occasions as she was the one who scheduled the interview. Got no response whatsoever.
Gave the benefit of doubt because of Covid and assumed they were no longer hiring.
Come 2021, applied for the same role and was asked to attend an online interview by the same HR lady. Same story, prepared hard. Did the interview, technical and competency based, went well I’d say, interviewer was pleased. I asked when I’d get a response and they said within 3 weeks as they have to go through their processes.
3 weeks passed by, again no response. Contacted HR no response. Contacted the interviewer this time and was told its positive from his end and passed on to another department for a review and its out of his hands. Few more weeks passed no response, have still not heard back!
Seems like a bad culture, unorganised staff. Would’ve appreciated a courtesy email to say I didn’t get through but no, guess they like leading people on and hanging.
Not sure how true this is but was told by a colleague that when TfL have an opening & want to promote someone internally, they have to go through the ‘process’ and open up the role to externals and carry out interviews just to fulfill the process requirements. If this is true then it reeks of corruption.
Will probably never apply again.
