      Entrevista

      The process took a particularly long time and one very very important thing to note here which is that Trimble is a very big company so YMMV. Some here are commenting on how great the people are in this company and that could very well be true but I unfortunately resonate more with the reviews that complained about the management of this company and how there seems to be a lot of disorganization. What happened to me in the end was very very inappropriate/unprofessional and if I was in that company, I would have filed a HR complaint. First off, this job is located in the Denver area, where I live, which is why I applied for it. I had a great HR screening call which was followed by a questionnaire which I filled out and emailed the next day. *2 weeks later* I prod HR and she says she forgot my email so she will get to it right away. The first interview is with the "director" and he took his sweet time replying back to scheduling that interview while rescheduling/canceling 3 times. *3 weeks later* The interview went fine. I was trying to be upbeat and answer all the questions but you get zero feedback from the guy (which is fine, everyone is different). I was then given the attached question. A coding question that takes about a week to completely get to work and I wrote hundreds of lines of code and created a PPT to present. *2 weeks later* I provided that presentation to a team of 5 engineers (a manager and 4 engineers). The “director” did not show up. The overall feedback seemed to be good and I was told that I would hear back within a few days since this panel interview was the final stage. *2 weeks later* I prod HR that I did not hear back which is then followed by them ghosting me for another week and then telling me “Hey actually we need a final final interview with you in person since the “director” is showing up in person in Denver and would like to meet with you. I felt at that point that I had given them everything I got and that this was not productive but against my better judgement I decided to go. *3 weeks later* They tell me to meet the “director” in the office in Westminster, CO at 8am on a Monday since this is the only time he is available. I drive the 40min commute on my own dime, I meet with him. He shows me a demo of the autonomous harvesting that they do but in a parking lot. He also emphasizes that he believes a successful team should be able to colocate in the same office but there was no one from the team in the office except for himself and he is located in Ohio (which explains his tough schedule). I was offered a cup of water for showing up. He then shares with me feedback from my earlier interviews that he has concerns that I do not know MATLAB since I did the coding assignment in Python (I do not have a MATLAB license and I did say that during the presentation but I have 9+ yrs of experience with it). He also says that I never go into details when asked questions which is “fair” feedback if he asked detailed questions rather than the very very general questions he asked. He also started asking me about what the engineers in the panel interview said about their job and how they feel about it. This was very weird since he is basically collecting feedback from a candidate about other people on his team. All of this would have been ok until the moment he was showing me the door. He first asked about my immigrant status which is also ok given that this is usually a variable but then he asked if I have any children followed by inquiring in detail about my wife’s visa status (very creepy). He kept following up with whether I wanna stay in the US out of the blue. That sounds like a bunch of HR complaints that I could file if I worked there. He said in the end he will make a decision in a couple of weeks. Of course, 3 weeks later since he can’t even abide by his own deadlines, I get an auto-generated rejection email. Not even a phone call from these people. Long story short, if you decide to join that team, be very careful with the seemingly dysfunctional relationship that the team has as well as the disorganization that they have running their team. The process was very long and filled with many miscommunications. This was all ok had it not been for the really creepy intrusive questions from the “director”. I never wrote a review here despite doing many interviews but I felt something needed to be said regarding what happened.

      The question was a long coding assignment in which the candidate is asked to develop a controller in MATLAB, for a simple vehicle point-mass model, that has it follow a straight line path and then executes a U-turn. The model is provided by the interviewers but then you have to put together a presentation for the panel regarding your findings and whatnot.
