I was called by one of several (< 10 total) employees with True Productions in regard to their Front End Developer position posted on Dice.com. I was called back by the administrative assistant Hillary, who left a voicemail for me saying they were interested in my application. I called the number back and reached the CEO & founding member. We discussed my background, the company, and scheduled an in-person interview for the next day, early morning. Next, the CEO called me back saying he spoke with Hillary and instead wanted samples of my work before they called me in for the interview. I obliged by sending my current portfolio, WIP's, and examples demonstrating proficiency with a few different web languages and UI designs. The CEO then called me back and was very insulting / rude in regard to feedback on my work examples. He was very unprofessional for someone of his position, both in his words of choice and tone in which he delivered his statements. Notable statements were, "This kind of work is what we pay India for", and, "This example of work looks like it's from the 1990's". I explained that some of my work examples were designed a few years ago (fresh college graduate here with multiple areas of experience, not just front end web dev) according to client requirements, but were in my portfolio to demonstrate language proficiency and not general design-- but he didn't appear to want to engage in a two-way conversation with me.
