I thoroughly enjoyed this interview process until I reached the final stage. The structure consisted of 3 interviews and a writing assignment.
I succeeded in all stages of the interview process until the last one, in which the interviewer was stern and dismissive. They asked vague questions with little to no context. When I asked for more context, they moved on to the next question instead of providing more information on what they meant. Also, it almost seemed as if they didn't even review my resume, my portfolio samples, or the assignment I did for the company.
This particular interview felt disconnected from the previous stages, both in terms of the questions asked and the overall company culture. It left me with reservations about pursuing the role and raised doubts about the health of the work culture.
After succeeding in 80% of the interview process and seemingly failing in the last — though I don't see it as a failure on MY part — I was advised that they want a candidate who has been in the role before. Strange. They knew I hadn't been in the role before they dragged me through an assignment and three interviews. That signalled to me that maybe the company just doesn't know what they're looking for in this role. When I asked for more feedback, they advised me there was nothing I could have improved upon.
Anyway, many months have passed and the job posting for this role is still floating around. Checks out.
