Found the company on another job board and send my resume over via their official website. The recruiter send an email and ask for scheduling an introductory call, in which the recruiter introduce company information and asked me a few questions based on my resume. The introductory call went well, and the recruiter said she was going to set up a technical phone interview the next week. However, they ended up sending a rejection letter saying I was not a good fit and they are going to move forward. It's like promise is not even a thing for them and I did not see any respect in their hiring process.
Hi. I'm sorry we didn't handle the process well on our end; thank you for taking the time to consider us. I wanted to let you know we hired a full time recruiter in January and are staffing up. We're a small, rapidly growing company, and we do have uneven experiences. We strive to treat everyone in the recruiting process as we would treat full time team members - which, should be, amazing.

Bit lengthy of a process, but I feel it's worth it for what you'll be working on, plus it's one position. First was the coding challenge, which should take 2-3 hours (use a trie). Then after I passed that, I was informed there would be 6-7 rounds till the end. The first 4 rounds, are the more technical, which because of covid, could not be onsite. Then the 5th round is more of a design question. If you get to, and pass the 5th round there's a pretty good chance you'll get an offer. The engineers who interviewed me for the first 4 rounds were talented and social enough where it felt collaborative. The questions are nothing like you'd find on leetcode verbatim except for one. It's more like things that relate to what they're doing, such as huge calculations in distributed systems, etc. They mainly want to know how you think/approach the problems. I'd describe it as a google style interview where the problems are a tad bit easier. After the 4th round, I was informed my skills did not align with them, but overall, it was a very human experience and I enjoyed it, bar not getting an offer. Just study your basic data structures, speak up and actually converse your thought process and you should get very far at least.

I first had an introductory call with the CTO in which he described to me Tubular's business model and engineering culture. I then was given a coding challenge (think hard leetcode problem), which I passed. I then had 2 technical phone interviews with engineers. In each call we discussed my previous experience, I got an opportunity to ask questions about the company, and I was asked a technical question. I found this process refreshing compared to others because the engineers asked me to solve problems that had clear applications to Tubular's work. In the end they were looking for someone more experienced but it was still a good experience.
