I applied through CareerBuilder and was called the next morning to answer some quick questions. I interviewed by the end of the week at their corporate office. When I was explained the position in the face to face interview, it changed drastically from what was advertised. The job posting was a salaried position for a corporate trainer. The position being offered was a phone sales position with some face to face account management with a commission based compensation package. In the interview we went through my resume and I answered some standard questions. Things went well and I was invited to come back the following Friday for the second round of interviews. I wrote down the time and date and was told I would be emailed all of the info. I followed up with a thank you email that afternoon. A few days later, I reached out to the HR person and asked if she'd like me to bring anything to the interview and to confirm time and date. I did not receive a response. After receiving no response to any of my contact, I decided to email her and let her know I would not be attending the 2nd interview. I get the feeling they're churning through interviews with no regard for the positions they're actually advertising. It left a bad taste in my mouth that the position was so drastically different from the one advertised, but I'm never one to turn down an opportunity. When the interviewer failed to respond to two emails, I realized this is not a healthy company culture. It seems like U.S. Energy does not value integrity or the time of its potential employees.

I only went through the first interview before declining because I did not like the job. Business to business sales and travel was not what I was looking for. This interview was so brief and uninformative for me and should have been conducted over the phone. We basically went over my resume, answered a few questions and that was it. The interviewer did not have any salary info and could not go into much detail about what I would be doing so that I could get a more solid grasp of the day to day. It took about 15 min. She wanted me to advance to the second interview, which would be about an hour and I would learn more about the company, but I declined simply because I did not like the little that I had learned by that point. Mainly, I just did not want to be stuck traveling to businesses and selling them something. I know that the job is right for someone though, just not me.
