I applied to an ad placed on Craigslist and they contacted me three days later. I was set up with an interview the next day, which they gave me time-frame options to come in. I met with two other candidates one candidate coming in for the same position as me and another for a Desktop Support position, which paid less after doing research coming home that day. The overall time was three hours, It was very relaxed and non-intimidating. The interviewer seemed to show interest in each one of us and was very upfront with all the needed information for candidates to know, unlike most companies that hide information from you until you are hired or afterwards. The interview was not so much based on technical aptitude, but more so on being trained for success to increase technical aptitude. There were very little questions asked on technical background.
The first session was an overview about the company, benefits, compensation, and available work shifts. The second session consisted of 1 on1 interviews, which was more of a take it or leave it deal. They provide training for the first three months of hire before turning you a loose. The candidates would actually be contracting and working with Chevron Oil. They are hiring for 5 positions. Two night shifts Monday-Thursday and two day shifts Monday- Thursday. The final shift is a day shift 12 hours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The location is actually in one of Chevron's buildings in downtown Houston.
The compensation was above my expectations and personal experience with IT jobs, being over $50,000, so no need to negotiate salary. The interviewer has touched based with me twice since my interview and stated that he was impressed with my skills and personality and that I have a chance of being hired. I look forward to the opportunity!
