Quick Timeline:
- Applied before the 10/20/2019 cutoff.
- Referred on 11/7.
- Received an interview invite on 11/18.
- Interviewed on 11/20.
- Received the OF-306 on 12/12.
- Tentative offer on 12/13.
Interview is through WebEX, a video-conference app. Audio connection was a little complex to set up so the interviewer allowed me to call via cellphone for audio with WebEX simultaneously.
Interviewer was up-front about the interview being straightforward with about 4-5 questions as written here in glassdoor. Interviewer was transparent that interview results around the holiday season will be slower.
Some things I did that may help:
- Ask specific questions about the position (show genuine interest/knowledge of the USPTO).
- Answer specifically (STAR method): fewer, repetitive questions merit specific/longer answers.
- Emphasize research experience (position relies heavily on independent research on prior art).
- Smile, be approachable and non-brooding.

I started getting emails for the first round of interviews on 4/16 and did that first interview on 5/13. It was just simple behavioral questions. I received an email to schedule a live online interview on 5/19, and I am scheduled to take it on 5/21.

I applied online and got a link to do a hirevue interview withing 2 weeks, After I completed the hirevue interview, I was sent a link to schedule the live interview within a week. I have not done the live interview yet

I applied online. Then I received an invitation to do hireVue interview after two weeks. Received reminder emails a couple of times and interviewed after one week. A send interview will be scheduled if I hear back.
