I first heard back from this organization about a month and a half after applying, so that was a little unusual imo. I went through an initial screen with the hiring manager, which was pretty standard. I was then invited to a two-hour interview in the middle of a workday which involved multiple writing assessments as well as a questionnaire. I’m generally pretty wary of these as they seem like a way for companies to elicit free labor from job applicants. I was told that future steps in the process would include multiple other steps and projects (none of which would be compensated). Based on the frankly excessive and slow-moving interview process (for a writer/researcher role, not even a management or leadership position) combined with reviews I read on here, I planned on withdrawing my application, but was told that they would be proceeding with other candidates. Good luck to them.

Didn't happen. Was contacted on a Friday about an initial interview and confirmed my availability for the next Tuesday. Interviewer was a no-show. Contacted them shortly after interview time about rescheduling and was told they were pursuing other candidates instead. Not sure why they changed their mind but would have appreciated a heads-up. Disrespectful of my time in terms of preparation and useless waiting.
