I was recruited through Linked In by HR. I had a series of interviews, one with the pleasant recruiter from HR at a Starbucks near my house. The second was with the person previously in the position, again, a very pleasant experience. The third half-day round of interviews with 6 people was "lukewarm." Distinct impression that it would be difficult to succeed in the position not having come up in the ranks first, even though they were "growing so fast they could not accommodate this growth internally." With everyone interviewing me having been there over 10 years I can see how you would think no one will ever learn what you already know, but candidates hired outside of the company are usually expected to bring in new ideas. When I asked why they liked working for Urban Science, most said there are a lot of smart people here who know what they are doing. One person did say they treat you like family---that is a response that I like to hear.
