Meet with several senior officers, usually more than two of them. Several phone calls, an in depth background investigation. Someone will come to your home and speak with you and your significant other. And they don't give you much of a head up where you are at in the hiring process. So you have to follow up with them.

Extremely thorough and lengthy process. I little bit overwhelming if you are coming from a standard civilian job, so be ready for the process. Took about 9 months from when I applied to go through the various stages into getting an offer.
