Entrevista
I applied online and scheduled an interview a day after preparing. I accessed the portal about an hour early to practice and set up my space for the interview. I created a reward system card and a welcome sign for the student. I also brought in a few props. The interviewer showed up 30 mins before time and asked if I wanted to begin or just wait till the scheduled time. I figured we might as well start now since I would not feel comfortable continuing to practice when I know she is waiting. The interview began on a good note. I shared my background and she briefed me on the process. We began the interview and right in the middle of my first slide she interrupted to give me pointers (Instead of reading the poem line by line and showing faces and asking her to do the same, she wanted me to read the whole poem then show faces). I said okay then we continued. Following that, the interruptions just continued. I appreciate feedback and constructive criticism, but maybe wait till the end to do so. It was very confusing since she is pretending to be the student, yet every second she would chime in on what could be done besides what I was currently doing. This kept dragging me down and delaying me from completing the timed presentation. We kept stopping for her to give me feed back, most of my time was wasted from the feedback. I used a bear as a prop then my hand as a puppet (she stopped me to say that I should use real objects as puppets). I pointed to my mouth to encourage her to give me an answer...she said I should have pointed to my ears if I want the students to respond. Multiple interruptions that just came off at nitpicking. She stopped me one last time for feedback then right after she said time was up. She then asked me to show her how I would finish the class. Holding back tears, I did so and she responds "wow that ending was much better than the rest of the class." She asked if I had any questions and I simply shook my head and tried to get off the camera as quickly as possible. Please allow an interviewee to fully finish before criticizing every little thing. I started off energetic and animated just like I do in my classroom, but that slowly wore off the minute she began to tell me what I should do instead (not very helpful when I'm not allowed to redo the slide and correct the "mistake").
