Interview stretched for 2 months as the interviewers were not sure of what they are looking for and what to expect from the role. The role's definition kept building and so does the round. I gave in a total of 6 rounds ranging from 2 generic techno round, 1 personality trait round, 1 presentation round, 1 round with COO and final HR round for salary nego.
Had to decline the offer, as despite stating my expectation of 40% hike on my existing CTC, they went ahead with 6 rounds and 2 months of my time and in the end were able to offer only 15% hike stating budget constraints for the role, while I received a far better offer at my expected hike% from another org.
Overall, I felt my time and energy was wasted, and the company had no regrets for that as they already had a reserve candidate in their suitable range, they were just trying to score better in the same bracket.
