The whole process of selecting resumes and responding, started fairly ok. Very slow to select relevant resume as I applied twice to the same role. The interview stages were resume selection, HR screening interview, first round interview with hiring manager and then the following rounds would have written assignments and was told there would be atleast 3 virtual interviews. I am a certified auditor and security manager and I have implemented key GRC programs with multiple engagements with nearly 15 years experience, However the hiring manager interview was very basic. It appeared they wanted SMEs who knew SOC audits specifically for which I had some experience but it wasn’t the only GRC expertise. There were no questions on how iso 27k audits work, or SOC audits work, what areas of controls matter the most or any aspect of compliance by design discussion. I think they wanted standard theory answers to standard theory questions. I did not even proceed to next round which was written assignments and was told that they didn’t want to move forward. This whole process was quite opposite of what they claim “do what is written on the tin” given their current position of expansion in the market. Very disappointing and the interviewer possibly used an assessment checklist that was written to reject candidates, despite experience.

The interview process at Vanta was smooth and professional. Given the current labor market conditions, it was a longer process than those used to 2020-2022 conditions, which is a good thing. Multiple conversations with various individuals were focused on fit and commitment to the industry. All technical questions were on point, case study was relevant, and fit questions were genuine. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.
