I was recruited off LinkedIn and praised how the position would be a great fit for my skills and background. It took this first recruiter a week and a half to respond and schedule an interview with a second recruiter, after asking me to send a copy of my resume. When speaking to the second recruiter (who was never sent my resume from the first one) I was told the job was filled and I should apply to a similar position. After interviewing with the second position, I was told I was not a fit, when in fact was the reason I was told to apply in the first place. The whole process was chaotic and unprofessional.

Quite Alarming!! Met with the recruiter, where salary range and position were not discussed upfront. She was surprised that her manager contacted me on LinkedIn- that should have been my first red flag. Then met with hiring manager, which was basic questions about my background and fit. Next I met with the Director for the same sort of questions. The Director at one point said "Not quite sure what the next steps are, but someone will reach out"- that should have been my second red flag.
I got an offer, but on the lower end of the range, and hybrid- not remote as what was discussed. I was told that because I live within a certain range of an office, they needed to change it to hybrid and I could work it out with the VP of Customer Success- with whom my meeting was cancelled during the interview process. When I told the recruiter my previous salary, and asked if they could come up to the top of the range- they rescinded the offer. To quote the recruiter "The hiring manager is concerned that even if we give you the top of the range, that you'll be still be job searching and we won't retain you. So we are going to rescind the offer". Blew my mind that management and leadership could be that shortsighted- don't you want employees to grow and move onto bigger and better things, regardless of whether its internal or external? Also, when you are paying entry level wages but want someone with years of experience- it doesn't really make sense. And what employer rescinds an offer because you tried to negotiate?- seems petty and quite frankly, unprofessional.
