Fast and friendly. Described the workplace and the position. Seemed very excited to talk overall. I had a few questions pertaining to the job that they didn't know the answer to.

There were 2 interviews. The first is a pretty basic HR screening. Nothing unusual or surprising: just getting to know you a little bit, talk over your resume, give more info on the job etc. The second was with a member of upper management and a couple of team leads that could end up being your manager. This one was a bit more specific, but still pretty laid back. They want to know you can do the job, but are also equally interested in what you can contribute to the company culture.

I was brought in for a Post-Closer position and was interviewed to be a Closer. I was not told this before the interview, so I had to ask the recruiters to clarify what position I was actually in the room to interview for. I was told at the end of the interview that the Post-Closer position had been filled already (this has happened to me twice with VU and the post-closer position - the role being filled before I even interviewed) and that the closer position would begin in August. While the interviewers were nice, it feels very unprofessional to bring someone in for a bait and switch interview. If I had wanted to be a closer, I would have applied for that position. The hiring processes at Veterans United needs a massive overhaul. As someone who has mortgage experience, I have applied and interviewed for probably 15 jobs this year and haven’t been hired. I had reached out to a recruiter (different person from the closer job), to ask what I could improve on since he told me that he wanted me at the company. He never replied which confused me since he was so excited about helping me get to work with VU. So, if you want to work at VU you may have to apply 15 times and interview 30 to get a job if you’re not outright rejected. I know many people who apply and get turned down immediately. I have warned my friends against applying at VU, because if they do not make the hiring process near impossible and do actually hire you, they will work you very hard for not great pay. They are chronically understaffed in many departments since they struggle to actually fill roles due to hiring practices.
