Here’s a typical breakdown: 1️⃣ Application & Resume Screening After submitting your online application via Volkswagen Group’s careers portal or through internal referrals/headhunters, HR will conduct a preliminary resume screening to assess your qualifications, skills, and experience relevant to the position. This usually takes 1–2 weeks. 2️⃣ Online Assessment (for Some Roles) Certain positions, especially graduate programs or technical roles, may require an online assessment. This might include numerical reasoning, logical reasoning, and personality assessments to evaluate cognitive skills and working style compatibility. 3️⃣ HR Phone/Video Interview An initial interview with HR focuses on: Your background, motivation, and career goals Understanding of Volkswagen Group and its culture Basic discussion about your availability, salary expectations, and willingness to relocate if required. Typically lasts 20–30 minutes via phone or Teams/Zoom. 4️⃣ Technical/Functional Interview (Line Manager/Team) Conducted by the hiring manager and potentially a team member. Focus on: Your professional knowledge, technical skills, and project experience How you handle real business challenges, often through case scenarios or competency-based questions (e.g., STAR technique). Your interest in the automotive industry and Volkswagen's future strategy (mobility, electrification, digitalization, etc.) This stage often lasts 45 minutes to 1 hour, either onsite or via video call. 5️⃣ Final Interview (if applicable) For managerial, sensitive, or strategic roles, there may be a final round with department heads, directors, or board members.       "One of the most interesting questions they asked me was how I would handle a situation where I discover a serious compliance or control issue during an audit, but the local management team is reluctant to address it. I appreciated this question because it tested not only my technical understanding of internal audit protocols but also my approach to professional ethics, stakeholder communication, and conflict resolution. I explained that I would first ensure I had sufficient, clear evidence, then engage the management team constructively to explain the risks and implications, and if necessary, escalate the issue following the appropriate internal governance channels. It was a good reflection of the real challenges an internal auditor might face in a multinational environment."
