.While the recruiter was responsive, the screening process revealed significant inefficiencies that wasted both candidate and company time.
The Issues:
The recruiter scheduled a phone screen within 2-3 days of my application submission. However, on the call, she immediately stated concerns about my background that should have been identified during the initial resume review - before scheduling the interview.
The job description specified ‘B2B OR SaaS’ experience as a requirement. I have B2B experience and 7+ years in digital marketing. Despite meeting the stated requirement, the recruiter focused on the fact that I had not worked at a B2B SaaS company specifically, which was not the JD requirement.
When I offered to provide additional materials demonstrating how my skills transferred to their needs, this was declined. The recruiter stated she would just send my resume to the hiring manager ‘as-is.’
The entire call lasted approximately 11 minutes and felt predetermined rather than exploratory.
The Core Problem:
This experience suggests recruiters are scheduling candidates before thoroughly reviewing applications against actual job requirements. This wastes candidate preparation time and company resources.
Recommendation to Watermark:
Allow recruiters adequate time (5-7 days minimum) to thoroughly review applications before scheduling interviews. If concerns exist that would disqualify a candidate, send a rejection email rather than scheduling a call to deliver that rejection.
Recommendation to Candidates:
If scheduled for a phone screen within 2-3 days of application, be prepared for a potentially rushed process where the recruiter may not have fully reviewed your qualifications.

Profile picked up from Naukri. Interview called and scheduled my interview.
I was asked whether I had experience in Java and React. I told I had 2 years experience in Java and don't have working experience of React but I have learned during my college time and have created few projects in it. After which the interview continued to take 1 hour interview where he asked Java and SQL questions. I also did some multiple small coding questions. I answered all the questions correctly. He also then asked me what the company does, but I said I am not sure as the interview was at 11 am and was scheduled just yesterday at 11:30 pm. So, I was busy preparing for interview. He definitely did not like that I didn't knew what his company does. As he is maybe there for like 10+ years, so he is probably obsessed with the company and did not like the fact that I have not read about this company.
I did not heard back from them again, after multiple calls for the feedback, the HR told me I was rejected because I didn't have experience in React which is very weird as why didn't he asked me a single question of React then? Why wasted my 1 hour then if working experience is that compulsory and why didn't you asked me any question of React if it was that necessary????
Very disappointed in the way they treated me.
