The current incumbent of the position being hired was conducting the 1st stage interview. They enjoyed making it very clear how great a job they had done and that everything since joining and that their role is being replaced in a different location against their will. Clearly the current incumbent is not happy about this. Whenever I talked about my experience, they then responded "one upping" me by giving an example of their experience which was better or bigger than mine. My advice is that the HM for this role should be doing the interviews given the conflict of interest mentioned above
