      Entrevista

The HR/recruiting team at Wayfair is great, they are nice, organized, respectful of your time, and they actually seem to care about applicants. I first applied online and got the screening HR phone call for another position but I was not called for a second round interview. I liked the company so I networked my way around and I was able to get the interview for the Business analyst on the Operations process improvement team. First round is a phone call with manager, it was fairly easy, he just asked tell me about yourself/experience and why the company and then talked a lot about the company, the department and the position, and then he ask if I had any questions. I hasd mixed feelings about the interview (it was supposed to last 30 minutes and only lasted 15 minutes, and it didn't go as smoothly as I would like to). I got contacted by email 2 days later asking me to go the Boston office for a final round. They paid for my tickets and a very nice hotel. The final round was 3 interviews 2:1, with people from the different teams in the department. The first one behavioral and the other 2 behavioral plus qualitative business cases. They all started by introducing themselves, explaining the department, their team and their role, then questions on the lines of tell me about yourself, why wayfair, ask a lot of questions about particular projects I worked but they were very interested in my participation in them and how I analyzed and solve problems and how good I was at structuring and analyzing data. Also a lot of question about solving conflicts, working in teams, working with difficult people, having lots of projects while meeting deadlines, take a lot responsability early in your career, etc. The cases were simple because they were no number involved, they just wanted to know how I analyzed a problem, structure an approach to data searching/analysis, and thinking about all the variables to the issue at hand. They also gave me a tour at the end of my interviews, the offices seem super nice, open space, very quiet which is strange given that everyone was working so close together, all desks are standing desks which is pretty awesome , and in general everyone was young (on average 28 yo). On the downside, as a young company growing so fast they seemed somewhat disorganized in their approach to business.

      Pergunta 1

Tell me about yourself Tell me about your projects Tell me about a time when you analyzed and solved a problem What would you do if two managers ask for your time in competing projects/deadlines How do you handle multiples projects/competing deadlines How would you handle a difficult client/team member Case One: we have x% of late deliveries and we need to get to y% (x<y), tell me the reasons why we have x%, how would you analyze the data to find out which of all those reasons is the cause. Case Two: we are developing an algoritm to help our B2B approach, we want to determine which of our customers are Corporations/companies and designer, what would you look at to determine which customers are Businesses, how would you determine which ones are designers and which companies, what metrics would you use to determine which clients to focus on first.
