Initial phone interview, then a writing exercise. The entire thing was a convoluted mess, what was asked for contradicted the feedback I was given. Was asked to respond to "pretend" reviews and was told not to read into anything or make up circumstances that weren't there. In particular, was supposed to write responses to people who had merely given a star, but had not written a review. I realize this is what happens in real life, but when I followed their directions, was told my responses were too "cookie cutter." Well, make up your mind. How is one supposed to write a personal response to a blank review when you are not supposed to make up any circumstances?? Makes no sense. Also, one of the pretend reviews I was given regarding the owner of an inspection company was a grammatical nightmare and completely unreadable. It looked like a 5th-grader had written it. Simplify the process, make it concise and clear. Address the inherent contradictions in what you are asking for. There were even major mistakes in the directions I was given for the exercise! Not good.
