I was contacted five months after applying for the position. I had a 30 minute phone interview with an executive from the company. I was then asked to come into the office to make a 30 minute presentation with a solution to a case study they sent me in advance, as well as in-person panel interview and a tour of the facility. I spent four hours at the on-site interview in total. I was then told that the next step was for me to meet the manager of the position and a potential co-worker at a later date. After not hearing from the from my original contact after one week, I emailed her asking about the next step in the interview process. I never heard a response from her. More than two weeks after the in-person interview I was emailed by a different company representative who told me that the company changed direction, and they no longer need a manager. I spent a lot of time and energy interviewing for this company, including preparing a plan for a case study scenario that the panelists admitted was the exact situation where help was needed. I'm not convinced that they didn't just take the plan I presented and had someone implement it without hiring me.
