I was contacted through LinkedIn and sent over my resume to the recruiter. He then gave me a phone call and kicked off the interview process. The process lasted about a month, however that was due to my time constraints. Typically, the entire process from initial phone screen to offer takes about 2-3 weeks max, so it was very nice of them to be so accommodating.
I first had a typical phone screen with the recruiter, followed by a phone screen + mini tech interview with the engineering manager. Then I had a full technical phone interview with two developers, followed by a take home technical challenge (building a react app). Finally I had a full day of onsite interviews (both technical and cultural) with various people from the team I was applying for.
If that sounds like a lot, it's because they're very thorough and they CARE about the type of person they're hiring.
The experience throughout was amazing. I know this company has a lot of bad ratings on Glassdoor, but don't let those ratings fool you. They've really taken the feedback to heart and made a ton of changes to the company culturally. The onsite interview was THE BEST interview experience I have ever had (and I've interviewed at top companies like Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc).
You can really tell that they care deeply about culture and what sort of team player you are. Many places will just sit you down and grill you with technical questions all day (I'm looking at you, Google) without ever asking about you as a person. But at Weedmaps, it was a very good balance of both cultural and technical questions.
On the engineering side, they're working with very cutting edge tech, and the people are extremely smart.
Because of that, you'll have to really know your stuff. I felt that each question was very fair but not easy. As someone who has done interviews for past companies, the questions asked were extremely fitting for the position I applied for (Senior Front-End Developer).
I received an offer but ultimately turned it down in favor of another company that also had an amazing interview experience and culture, but believe me, it was a very tough decision. However, I know that if I had chosen Weedmaps, I would have been just as happy. They're really a great company.
