I applied directly via email to HR and then nothing. Recruiting is a two way street from both a candidate and potential employer perspective. As an experienced HR professional, I have built relationships with candidates that might not have been a fit at that time but either could assist in finding the perfect candidate or becoming the perfect candidate in the future. Not notifying a candidate that you aren't interested or have filled the role is just lazy and speaks volumes about the corporate culture (or lack of it). If they are subject to OFCCP guidelines, best practices would be to notify that the position is filled or cancelled at the least.
