Entrevista
Interviewing for: Senior Integration Developer
Location: Gold Coast (Hybrid)
The interview process with Westpac consisted of three stages:
Technical Interview (Remote)
After being referred by a recruiter, I had a one-hour technical interview with three Westpac team members. It was an in-depth session covering Spring Boot, microservices architecture, design principles, and various situational questions. It was intense but well-structured and a positive experience overall.
Face-to-Face Interview (Gold Coast)
The second stage was an in-person interview focused more on personality and team fit. It felt more relaxed and was a good opportunity to meet the team and get a feel for the workplace culture.
Technical Assessment (Codility)
The final stage was a 3-hour Codility test with two exercises. I personally found this stage less effective. Codility seems outdated as it mainly scores based on the final result rather than your approach or thought process. I scored around 30%, but in hindsight, I would have used AI tools to generate code faster and spent more time validating the final output. I had initially assumed Codility could track AI usage, which it apparently doesn't.
Overall:
The interview experience was mostly positive, especially the human interaction stages. The Codility test, however, didn’t feel like the best reflection of real-world skills or how I normally work in a team setting.
