A hub will indiscriminately distribute data across a network (i.e: all information that comes into a hub will be shared to all devices connected to it); a router is a device that forwards data along networks. It will connect at least two networks and is located at gateways between networks. A switch is a device which filters data across a network (i.e. data goes from device A to device B on a network). A switch is more directed than a HUB.
