This interview was in the context of an internship program.
When I arrived I was received by two interviewers from the Audience Development department and was asked mostly generic questions, like 'Where do you want to be in the future?', 'What skills can you bring?', etc.
When we chatted about the role, I was surprised by their commercial approach, they seemed to be 'selling' me their workplace as a very corporate institution, not an art gallery - which actually made me loose interest in the position.
I was also disappointed to find out that most of their internships are unpaid - this one was paid the National Minimum Wage and they said anyone getting it would be incredibly lucky.
I guess the problem was I expected a role related to the local community, attracting new audiences to the gallery, as they are very well known for they social activities, and also where I could apply my enthusiasm for art - but it was essentially a marketing administrative role.
Apart from that, the interview went smoothly and they offered me to visit the exhibition for free.
