The recruiter effectively managed expectations and championed my candidacy, acknowledging the potential fit despite the lack of direct publishing experience. However, the interviews revealed significant internal misalignment: the interviewers focused heavily on my lack of direct publishing background and my approach to adversity, even though the recruiter had positioned my strategic experience as an asset.
One interviewer explicitly mentioned they were not seeking my specific background and that the team had requested changes to the job title, suggesting the expectations for the position were not yet finalized.
The assessment was well received, but the overall expectations for the role were never clearly defined.
The recruiter later acknowledged the internal lack of clarity regarding the role definition, which explained the mixed feedback.
