It starts off with a quick phone interview with someone from HR. This is very light hearted and asks you mainly about if you would be comfortable working long hours and living in Raleigh. Be careful on the interview (and all following phone interviews) because everything you say that may bring up some concern will be noted and brought up numerous times during the in person interview. The technical interviews were not too challenging. They mainly consisted of explaining previous work experience and projects you worked on. They will ask you every detail about it and if you say something that you are not completely sure you can explain then tell them that because they are very smart and will bury you in a hole that is hard to get out of. The in person interview is an EXTREMELY LONG PROCESS. There are about 8 1:1 interviews, a presentation, and lunch with some managers and the questions never stop.

Long but fair. Started with an HR interview where I was asked standard questions as well as a time where I had to solve a technical problem and the steps I took to do so, then a 2nd phone interview with a manager who was friendly and polite. I was asked a combination of questions from what I am looking for in a job culturally,, behavioral questions, and some very straightforward technical questions pertaining to LEDs and semiconductors. I am preparing for my 3rd interview now and was told to expect 4 total before an offer. All the interviews are still over the phone, none in person. For the 3rd interview I have been asked to prepare a 30 minute presentation on research or a project I have completed and to expect 30 minutes of follow up questions from 3-4 R&D managers.
