I applied online and a few weeks later, a recruiter emailed me to schedule a phone screen.
Recruiter reached out and was responsible for scheduling it with a current design technologist who was new to the company. Pretty formal process for getting a simple 30 minute phone screen.
Had to reschedule for a time a few hours later the same day of the scheduled interview due to work reasons but recruiter was very nice about it and understanding.
When I did get on the call finally, the interviewer admitted he was new to the process of interviewing for this position and it was obvious since he repeated the same phrases over and over again.
Interviewer came across as apathetic and impersonal.
I felt like anything I tried to say to prove I was qualified would just be met with disapproval . as none of my design/technical work seemed to impress interviewer as I talked about it.
Lots of high standards expected for team that didn't have much of an online presence or a lot of open-source activity themselves. Team is also not diverse based off LinkedIn profiles.
Overall, by the end of the call, I felt it wasn't going anywhere and was just happy the call had ended.
A few days later, I got an impersonal email saying they were moving forward with better matches. Good stuff.
