Skype call to Sweden after I applied through Lund University. I had previously worked during the summer in Vancouver through the same university and I met some people at the company. I was told that they were looking for candidates in Sweden because of a future expansion. They checked all my paperwork and sources before I flew to Vancouver for a final interview. They helped with some expenses. Nice people.

Sent an email to HR with my resume and cover letter and the same day they called me to schedule an interview. They told me to bring letter of recommendation from reputable people that I know and that they can contact easily, lets say teachers, other employers etc...I was able to get those pretty quickly so I called them back to let know I was ready. The interview took place at the main offices in Vancouver. I was blown away when I saw them, nothing huge but they have a great vibe. I met one of the managers and we went through some of my previous experience at school, where I was from, my future plans etc...he wanted to make sure that I understood that the company is very serious about internships, that they are paid and that I will be expected to deliver quality material as if I was a full time employee. He asked a few more technical questions but that were fairly easy.

Have you been an intern anywhere else? Do you have any paid or unpaid working experience? What software are you proficient in?
I also had to provide school transcripts and a few letters of recommendation from other employees and teachers.

Funny because the HR person that called me after I applied had a really thick french accent and for a second I thought I wasn't going to get the job. Luckily after that everything was pretty easy. I had a couple of other offers so probably that helped with my nerves. There was not a lot of talking about me, instead the interview was more about technicalities and about my resume and experience. Still, if you come off as a pretentious person I think you won't be hired.

The process was fairly easy thanks to the great HR team who were on top of it the whole time. After scheduling an interview, I met part of the developing team who wanted to know more about me, my background, expectations etc...After that, I went to the main offices and went though a series of problem solving exercises and some more questions. It was a bit stressful but this is a very competitive field and they can't takes risks choosing somebody that is not right for the job.
