During my interview process, I was told that World Centric retains talent by donating proceeds to nonprofit causes. While this is certainly an admirable part of the company’s ethos, it’s not a viable retention strategy for employees, particularly when the compensation doesn’t match market expectations. Many individuals need more than just an inspiring cause to stay motivated they need competitive pay, career development opportunities, and a clear growth path. Without addressing these fundamental needs, retaining top talent becomes a major challenge. While the mission is inspiring, the salary and benefits packages are notably below market standards, especially for roles that require significant expertise and experience.

Interview process moved fast and I really enjoyed everyone I met. I was led to believe that I was liked very much and moved into the finals, that I was one of two of their top picks. However, I was rejected. I was told that they chose the other candidate and that "It was a hard decision for us to make and who ever chooses to work with you in the future is lucky".
Well.... that was a lie. They claimed that one of their primary values is integrity but it's just not. Why do I say this? Because I asked for feedback and they ignored me, then a few days later they reposted the job, I then asked them if the "other" candidate didn't work out and if they were still open to considering me, they responded by giving me some very vague and erroneous feedback as to why I wasn't chosen, then they offered me a little gig as a consultant (really it was a test that was a set up for failure). I took the gig and they thanked me for my work and told me they found a mistake (without being specific) in my work and for this reason they would not move forward with me.
All in all, I learned a lot about World Centric during this process. I learned that their value of integrity is just a some words on a website. That they are incapable of providing clear nor useful feedback to people. And that they did not value collaborative team work, which is what the "gig" was supposed to be.
Oh well! I thought for a minute this was the organization I would spend the rest of my life supporting because I really do believe in their environmental mission. However, I never made it past the duplicity.
