Terrible and almost stereotyped.
Heard so much about Xero's human centered practices experienced ZERO. The HR who scheduled the interview didn't show up for the first call and sent some junior to "fill in". I heard fill in like 10 times in 20 mins of initial screening call when I asked questions about which role I am being considered, what is the team like, who is my reporting, what is the salary etc.!!!!
Imagine my predicament. I still managed to hang on thinking this is an exceptional interview! But no.
Had to followup for next steps when I get some other senior folk in hiring to tell me how badly overworked they are, lol!
Then next interview is setup with a hiring manager who hasn't held a product management role before yet is a product manager here for like less than a year (yes I do my research).
After 60 mins of conversation the hiring manager realizes that I have significant experience and skin in the game. I was assured I have some strong stakeholder management experience.
Surprise surprise! After a week I hear nothing. Then after some followups I get a humanized email saying oh you are a brilliant fit at Xero but you are not so senior for the role!
Guess what, I was stereotyped (guess why?) and from the email felt I was not given a chance because of someone went insecure.
Xero is not the Xero we know anymore. It's going to Zero. Avoid interviewing and not wasting ur weeks.
