A recruiter initially contacted me via LinkedIn to schedule a Zoom meeting with a third-party recruiter. After that interview, another Zoom meeting was arranged—this time with another outside technical interviewer who made it clear they did not work for the company and couldn’t answer my questions about the role or the company itself. During this interview, I was shown what was described as a "wireframe," though it resembled a poorly drawn sketch with no context or background provided. I was expected to give technical input and uncover problems they wanted solved, essentially being asked to address their design challenges without being hired yet. I eventually moved on to an interview with their Senior Designer and Manager. This session was recorded, and it was evident they were using AI to analyze my responses and designs in real-time. It was distracting and impersonal—if you're interviewing a candidate, the assessment should come from the interviewers, not an AI tool. Interviewers should come prepared with thoughtful questions and demonstrate an understanding of how to evaluate a candidate's potential. Additionally, my questions were met with vague, evasive responses, which left me feeling like the process lacked transparency and respect for my time. It should not take 4 interviews to speak to an in house employee to see if the companies goals and values are in alignment.
