After applying online, I was emailed to set up a phone screening with a recruiter. After a nice conversation with the recruiter, I was set up with an in-person interview with someone in the department in which I was applying. It was a great interview but by the time the recruiter and interviewer connected the job was no longer available.

I was already employed as a temp, which may be the best way to go. I think taking the temporary route best, since you can decide if it's a good fit for you. I've heard that some positions require an interview with several people one on one.
