      Entrevista

      Applied online from weworkremotely.com. The team reached out after 2 days and did some online tests. Got invited for an interview (one month later) with the Head of Engineering, then a second interview with a SRE, a final session meeting the team. Something to note, I chose the interview days and somehow the length of the process was fully decided by my choices. They then sent an offer letter 4 days after the last session with the team. Started the new job after 2 months. They were good enough to give me three options of the start date I will be interested in.

      I applied via LinkedIn. I had an initial interview with non-technical recruiter. I put attention that she was not a company worker, but rather external/temporary contractor. On the very beginning she let me know that she was not going to invest too much of her energy into this meeting. She told: "I booked 30 minutes but this is 10 minutes interview". This shows that she was not really interested doing her job professionally. She did not tell anything about the company and went straight to the question: "List what tools and technologies you used". I was shocked by such approach. I answered what tools and technologies a use daily in my work. She asked me do you have any other questions? Of course I could not have any other questions, I was shocked with the 5 minutes interview! After a couple of hours I received a rejection message, standard email that we look for stronger candidates. And I was 100% fit for this role. Well, if all interviews are such, then what one can expect about the whole communication in this company?.. Last but not least, the recruiter did not ask about salary expectations, she asked what was my current salary. This question is illegal in Germany. I wonder what another rules/laws this company violates...

      Entrevista

      The interview consists of talking about candidate's experience and interviewers asking questions. The questions are in the realm of trivia or targetted at your ability to memorize documentation. They are not checking for candidate's understanding of concepts or open ended questions or scenario based situations but rather focus on implementation specifics like "List everything from X" "What happens if Y" "How would you explicitly use feature Z" The process is optimized to filter for candidates that are familiar with their daily business and have already dealt with the same kind of issues like they did. Conclusion: Apply only if you match 1:1 their stack or have memorized documentation.
