      Entrevista para Software Engineer

      25 de set. de 2019
      Candidato(a) sigiloso(a) à entrevista
      Chicago, IL
      Nenhuma oferta
      Experiência negativa
      Entrevista fácil

      Candidatura

Candidatei-me pessoalmente. O processo levou mais de 1 semana. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa divvyDOSE (Chicago, IL).

      Entrevista

Initial phone screen, Api implementation and final in-person round for 3 hours. Totally waste of time as they didn’t even know what they wanted, and ended up wasting both their time and candidate time. The same “not ready to pull trigger” reason.

Fui entrevistado pela divvyDOSE em abr. de 2021

      Entrevista

Overall process was an initial screen with an engineering manager, an open ended take home assignment, an engineering interview (with minimal relation to your take home), and then a 3 hour block of several more back to back rounds. There is minimal feedback between rounds so it's left up to your own self assessment to determine what to focus on when answering questions. The take home was to write a flask app to use github and bitbucket APIs and present combined profile data. With the level of ambiguity of the instructions I time boxed my efforts assuming it was like other interview take homes where we would discuss limitations and next steps for turning it into a real service. Discussion about the take home and its extension was minimally discussed in interviews. I later found out that it was after seeing my take home that they decided to down level the position I was applying for without actually relaying that feedback to me. If I had known that there was such a huge misalignment of impressions I would have declined to proceed further. Another thing that happened too late in the process was mentioning where I was applying to a friend. With the amount of free labor they wanted for their interview process I am not surprised at what my friend who formerly worked there had to say about their DEI problems.

Candidatei-me online. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa divvyDOSE.

      Entrevista

The process started with a phone screen. If that goes well you'll get a call from the CTO followed by a request to complete a coding challenge. If they like your code they'll want to do an in-person interview which will take approx 4 hours. The in-person interview was probably the most intimidating interview I've had. They immediately put you in a room with three managers that proceed to blast you with questions for about an hour. After that you'll meet some other people for "culture compatibility" and then another in-depth tech interview about your code. I definitely feel like I had answers to all their questions as I've been in the industry 7 years. I was told before I left by the CTO that feedback would be provided even if I was not selected for the position. I received an email the next day saying they decided to pursue other candidates . Despite their CTO and the email saying that I could request feedback on why I was not selected, none was given. I've requested feedback twice now but it seems that I've been ghosted. Not really sure what this company is looking for.

Thank you for your feedback on your Friday interview. I am glad we were able to provide feedback this morning. I wish we could have provided feedback sooner than 4 business days. I also wish you the best of luck in your job search and thank you for considering divvyDOSE. Cheers, Amanda
