I recently went through the interview process with ebbo, and I would like to share my experience to provide some insights for future candidates. Throughout the interview stages, communication was prompt and the interviewers were professional. I was very excited about the team and the role. However, there was a significant issue that I believe is important to highlight.
After completing all interviews, I received written confirmation from the company stating that I was the "lead candidate" for the position. Naturally, this led to a high level of expectation and anticipation on my part. Unfortunately, despite this explicit communication, I was later rejected for the role after 1.5 weeks of zero contact from them.
While I understand that hiring decisions are complex and nothing is guaranteed in the job market, I found this aspect of the process pretty disappointing. It's important for companies to manage candidate expectations more carefully to remain as professional, not to mention as ethical, as possible.
Unfortunately, leading a candidate to believe they are the top choice only to reject them later creates false hopes and reflects poorly on the company's hiring practices and values. Just something to think about if you are considering a career with ebbo.
Another red flag was the fact that the recruiter told me they were looking to leave the company due to a misalignment of career goals, and this role would replace them. Definitely not a great look as far as company outlook goes. Plus the fact that this role would take over her role in its entirety AND many other responsibilities for just a Junior title is a bit telling of the state of the company.
