I spoke with an educator and manager in the store. They encouraged me to fill out an application on the website. A couple of weeks after it was submitted, I was invited to a group interview. I wore lululemon clothing for the interview, which was appropriate as we were sitting on yoga mats in the park for the interview. This lasted about 1 hour, and there 7 of us, plus 2 Lululemon staff members. Main questions included: 1) if you had $1 to spend in a dollar store, what would you buy, why? 2) What is one of your goals? 3) What is your favorite way to sweat? 4) Tell us about a goal that you have achieved. We had to fill out a questionnaire on our seasonal availability. They warned that if you have any holiday time planned, then the seasonal position is not the time to apply. A couple of days after the group interview, I was invited back for a large yoga class, lululemon employee panel discussion, and group interview. I wore lululemon again. The yoga class was fine, and pretty basic. Nothing too crazy for those that do not take a lot of yoga classes. The panel discussion was basically just 4 employees in different positions sharing their love for the company, culture, and yoga. For the group interview, they put us in about 7 groups of 8 applicants. We sat in a circle and two staff members sat with us for two questions, then they rotated two new staff members in, followed by a third set for the last two questions. Questions were generic- if you had unlimited financial resources for one day, what would you do? In a group project, what role do you play? What is your favorite way to sweat? What resonated with you in the panel discussion? What do you like best about lululemon? They had us full out that same availability questionnaire again. Two days later I received an email letting me know that I was not selected, but she reminded me at they end that they have free yoga every Sunday, and I thought that was very unprofessional in light of what that email was for. I responded for feedback, and she did not reply. Meanwhile, I received another email from the assistant manager letting me know that they would be in touch soon. Poor communication. I let her know that the store manager had already let me know, and since she had reached out, I asked if she could provide feedback. She did not respond either. This experience gave me a glimpse of the unprofessional nature of the management team, so it might have been a blessing in disguise to not be chosen.
