After multiple calls to schedule my interview, I arrived at the location 15 mins prior to the interview time, as requested in the job invite email. After reaching at said time, I was made to wait at the lobby.
I waited for half hour and still no word from anyone.
I decided to be patient and not lose my cool when the HR showed up after another half hour (yes, I waited for 1 hour in total). The HR seemed clueless and asked me to wait for a few more minutes to see if the hiring manager is available.
That's when I lost it. I expressed my discontent as to being waiting in the lobby for 1 hour like a fool with nobody around. And the best part is she didn't even have the slightest thought to even apologize for the delay. She told me that since I didn't have my resume on me, it will take a few more minutes (it's 2018 and no one carries their resume. Wake up and smell the coffee!!).
I told them I do not wish to give my interview at a place where people's time is not respected and I'm not in the right frame of mind to even give any interviews and walked out, asking them to cancel my application.
Unsolicited advice to the company: please respect other people's time, even though it's an interview candidate. As much as a candidate is expected to be prepared, the employers are expected to be mindful and respectful of a scheduled meeting. And please have the basic decency to apologize for any unforeseen delays.
My overall impression: looking at the lack of communication and coordination between the HR team clearly speaks poorly about the company, their work culture and the way they treat their employees. Clearly, it would be a hell hole to work and I pity the other people who work there. I would definitely stay away!
