Met with two consultants for phone interviews. One focused on my background. The other asked more specific questions related to the responsibilities of the role. Each calls was about 30-45 minutes.

Very thorough and pleasant. Writing exercise to see how you communicate, and they really wanted to get to know me as a person. Multiple prospective peers did calls with me, not so much to grill me as to help me understand what the job is like. Note that to get hired there you must have some type of published writing experience - articles, public business reports, etc.
