      I applied on LinkedIn. Received a link to do a 2.5 hour coding challenge (coderbyte) and completed it. Next I had a quick video call with their admin assistant in which I was asked briefly about my background and that he will schedule me for next round. Interview was scheduled for following week for 1 hr with Dir. of Engineering & HR. Day of interview - few minutes before my interview, I received a calendar cancellation followed up with an email from the admin assistant that they were looking for someone with more experience. Clearly the hiring manager did not even look at my resume until right before the interview. I'm lucky that I work remote, because I'm sure some candidates would have have taken time off work to do this interview as it was in the middle of the work day. I feel bad for their candidates. This was probably one of the worst interview experiences I've had. I hope they can improve their hiring processes for future candidates.

      I applied and was sent an automated email containing a 2.5 hour coding challenge before ever speaking to a human being. The challenge consisted of 3 coding problems (React, SQL, and JS), several open ended written questions, and about a dozen multiple choice questions. All of which were technical in nature. I understand the need to assess candidates' competencies, as a developer that's an unavoidable part of the interview process at some point. However, at least do some basic screening first and speak with potential candidates before you ask them invest that amount of time. If you want to find good talent, don't just blast out coding challenges to everyone who applies (especially ones that are 2.5 hours long)! It demonstrates a total lack of consideration for candidates' time and is a terrible hiring practice. To me that speaks volumes about the company culture, and isn't a place I'd ever want to work at anyway.
