Do you know what asynchronous work means? Asynchronous work refers to the practice of working on a team that does not require all members to be online simultaneously, as in, maybe while you are working your colleague is sleeping, spending time with friends or family, or going for a walk. That practice was more common in global and international companies and became more known after the COVID-19 pandemic with the shift to remote work, but it’s often misinterpreted or disregarded as difficult. This is largely because people are used to working in physical places all together at the same time, having real-time interactions, and tend to transfer that to the digital environment ending up having too many meetings and zoom fatigue and expecting instant response to move on with their work. Successful asynchronous work requires the right equipment, software, and company management practices, and it doesn’t mean that when you work asynchronously you don’t ever interact in real-time with other people and work in solitude, it means that you don’t depend on people being online and interacting
