📣 Educating Yorkshire is returning - and to celebrate, Channel 4 is letting Yorkshire school children takeover. Over 400 schoolchildren from three schools across Yorkshire have taken part in creating a huge marketing campaign for the new series, which kicks off today with a launch film from 4creative and Blink, directed by Dougal Wilson. Entitled School’s Back, the star cast of the new trailer are the real students of Thornhill Community Academy. The one-take film takes viewers on a tour through the actual school, highlighting talent from science experiments to live music performances by the school band. The work of Lawnswood School and Dixon Unity Academy’s students will be seen in OOH posters which go live later this month, a social media takeover as the pupils temporarily run Channel 4’s social accounts, and radio ads recorded by students. Tongue-in-cheek pupil voiceovers will also be replacing Channel 4’s usual on-air announcements. Check out the trailer below, and read more about the full campaign at the link in the comments. hashtag#EducatingYorkshire hashtag#SchoolsBack

Unflinching films that can make a difference Since Groomed: A National Scandal first aired, the Government has pledged new laws to support victims of child sexual abuse as well as publishing Baroness Casey’s audit on Group-based Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, which sees over 800 historic cases under renewed investigation. To keep survivors’ voices at the heart of discussions, we held an event centred centred around the 90-minute documentary in which we heard Jade and Chantelle’s personal stories and their fight for justice. Hosting last week’s session was Political Commentator, Journalist and Broadcaster, Baroness Hazarika MBE, who also spoke with Anna Hall, Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Candour Productions and Shaminder Nahal, Head of Specialist Factual at Channel 4, around the filmmaking process and why programming like this is important to continue important discussions and spark new conversations.
