Team H have achieved an OUTSTANDING Ofsted rating for the third consecutive year! To celebrate, staff gathered for a little party (and plenty of treats). The team works exceptionally well together, and we're so grateful to have them leading Home H and supporting our children and young people. A little snippet from the Ofsted feedback: ✨"Children receive exceptional care from staff who know them well. As a result, they thrive. The manager and staff provide the children with warmth, care and nurture. Children respond to such care and develop long-lasting and trusting relationships with the staff. As a result, the children flourish and make excellent progress."
It's been a busy year already for Compass Community, with our new CEO Stacy Wallace and new Director of Residential Services, Emma Carrington both joining the organisation! Click the image for full details, and to learn more about these leaders.
Within our homes, each child and young person will have a specially-assigned key worker (an adult from within that home's staff team), and throughout the year they will spend time together to build positive and healthy relationships that provide stability, connection and consistency. Recently, one of our young people went for an evening meal at Franco Manca with their key worker as both LOVE pizza, and it was the perfect chance to enjoy time together outside of the home over a shared interest 🍕
💡Did you know? We're proud to say that Compass Children's Homes have the highest rate of membership with the Community of Communities amongst children's home providers throughout the country. ❔What this means... The Community of Communities framework allows our homes to offer therapeutic practises that positively guide all activities throughout the day, from sitting together to eat breakfast to the types of therapy on offer and from shared home meetings (where everyone attends and gets to ask "why?") to joint activities like setting the table or playing games. 🎞️Therapeutic Development Manager, Tom Thurlow, explains what being a CofC member looks like in our homes:
A little Monday inspiration for you ! 📣We wanted to give a big shoutout to Home Manager James, who recently let a young person shave his head in a bid to help tackle some of the major anxieties surrounding going to the hair salon. Getting to shave James’ head helped reduce some of the fear and provided a safe space to navigate big emotions. 👏Our staff teams are continuously going above and beyond for the children and young people in their care, and we are so grateful for their commitment and love.
We know the importance of a strong team, which is why we encourage team building in many forms, whether that's celebrating big milestones, team training days, taking time out to try new activities together, or catching up over a meal. For Team R, a night out together was the perfect chance to regroup, catch up and brainstorm for what 2025 will look like!
Throughout December, our homes were filled with festive spirit and lots of excitement. Our staff took our children and young people on so many adventures including: trips to see Christmas Light displays, visiting Santa and the Elves, going on the Elf Express, visiting the reindeer, trips to the theatre, and special charity events (like visiting care homes) too. There was plenty of family time too with big house dinners, movie nights, board game evenings and more!
On 12th December, all across the country our teams were sporting their best festive jumpers in aid of Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day! Raising money (over £100!) and spirits, it was lovely seeing so many Compass staff getting involved 🤍❄️🎄
💡DID YOU KNOW that at Compass, there is an array of learning and development opportunities for staff to explore and a special qualifications team dedicated to supporting anyone wanting to further their learning? 📚The qualification team delivers various qualifications to all five services of Compass Community, and are currently assessing over 540 learners nationwide! 🎳Here's a photo of the qualifications team, who recently attended a team-building event where they enjoyed both Curling and Duck pin bowling (and naturally, there was plenty of competitive fun!). It was a great chance to to work together outside of the normal office, and allowed them to welcomed a new staff member to the group too.
