Heather Spinney, Ph.D, Core R&D senior research scientist at Dow, has been named the 2021 Rising Star by the American Chemical Society ACS Women Chemists Committee. Dr. Spinney was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field of homogeneous catalysis at Dow (including: hydroformylation, alkoxylation, methanol homologation, ethylene polymerization) while demonstrating a high level of professionalism and leadership. The award also recognizes Dr. Spinney’s dedication to others, including tutoring children with learning disabilities and extensive volunteerism within the Midland, Michigan area. The ACS Women Chemists Committee (WCC) Rising Star Awards recognize exceptional early- to mid-career women chemists across all areas of chemistry on a national level. #WomenInScience
