Fred Perry has long been a supporter of @museumofyouthculture - for over ten years now! We’re as excited as they are for their first proper and permanent museum space set to open in Camden next year. Just like us, they are big champions of the impact of youth on modern society, and the work they do is crucial in helping to inspire future generations. We’ll let Jamie and Lisa tell you more. _ Black Friday has never really been our style. Our priority has always been to make quality clothes that stand the test of time. And so, after the success of our previous Black Fridays, we continue our efforts to support our chosen community organisations for 2025 with a contribution from our sales during the Black Friday weekend. It's always the people behind the independent music venues that make them so special. Meet Nicky Stewart Senior and Nicky Stewart, father and son who own this much-loved spot in Glasgow. At McChuills, they welcome music lovers from 18 years old to 80. A place of friendship, and one with many, many stories. Long may this continue. _ Black Friday has never really been our style. In any sport, rest and recuperation from the game is just as crucial as the graft, the training and game-day. That attitude applies to how we work at Fred Perry too. Sometimes it’s not the overly large gestures but the smaller things that count. But there are other things like: • Keeping Fridays meeting-free (for those who want it) to catch up on work and work at their pace • Early Friday finishes at 5pm • Our flexible working policy, which lets office employees start earlier or finish later depending on what works for them. But when things get more serious, we’re fortunate to have a good line of defence. We have employees who are registered Mental Health First Aiders, who are trained to support anyone in mental health emergencies or to point people to the right direction for anyone who needs extra support. We also have an Employee Assistance Programme that’s available all our employees and their families across the world can use to discuss in complete confidentiality, things that matter most at no cost to them.
One of our key brand pillars is Community. That includes all our employees who make up the Fred Perry brand. Our creative direction for the year — being ‘Match Fit’ — extends to how well we foster wellbeing for our employees. We know that in supporting them and making sure that everyone has access to the right mental health support, We create a winning environment. One of the ways we do this is through our annual Wellbeing Week, which we’ve celebrated at Fred Perry for several years. Some of the business-wide initiatives we’ve run include: Our annual Fred Perry Steps Challenge, which doesn’t just get people moving but also helps employees connect with others across our global teams The Fred Perry Upcycling Challenge, where employees repurposed old Fred Perry Shirts by transforming them into completely new items. Hybrid yoga sessions, led by one of our very own staff members And reminding our teams of all the health and wellbeing resources available And offering treats to all teams, with proceeds going to various charities However, we’re always looking for more meaningful ways to nurture our internal community so that it continues to reflect all we stand for as a brand.
Over the last year, we’ve been rolling out Insights Discovery to all our office and store managers as part of our management development leadership programme ASPIRE. Now, we’re finally rolling Insights out to all employees in Fred Perry. If you’re not familiar with it, Insights Discovery is a psychometric tool that helps people become more aware of their preferences, strengths and possible blind spots. Its aim is to help improve people’s understanding of themselves and others. “Be Authentic.” That’s one of our core brand values. And the journey of Insights Discovery couldn’t support this more. It has opened up the space to ask ourselves: 🥇 Who am I when I’m at my best? ☀️ What makes me stand out? 📈 How can I play to my strengths? 🌱 What do I need from my teammates?
In the lead-up to the 2025 Fred Perry Tennis Trust Championships, we invited back one of our first ever Tennis Trust champions, Harry Rock, for a Fred Talk — our internal lunch and learn. Harry spoke about his journey of resilience, overcoming injury and building confidence since winning the U18 championships in 2019. He also touched on all the ways winning the Tennis Trust Championships prepared him for life as a pro athlete. We’re continuously amazed by the calibre of young tennis players who participate in the championships. Some of them include Hannah Klugman (2020 Tennis Trust U12 champion) and Mika Stojsavljevic (2020 U12 runner-up) who both received wild cards to play in Wimbledon this year. The Tennis Trust finals take place Saturday 20th — Sunday 21st September in West London. Details below
