Last Friday, Grede employees participated in Bay College’s annual “Manufacturing Day at Bay,” an event for local high school students to learn about the manufacturing industry. Each year, Grede employees from our Iron Mountain, Michigan, foundry attend this event to demonstrate “Foundry in a Box,” showing the high schoolers what foundries are all about. The students even got to make tiny castings at our booth. National #ManufacturingDay is dedicated to engaging the community about the manufacturing industry’s vital role in society and shifting perceptions about what it means to work in professional trades after high school.
In honor of National Manufacturing Day, watch this video to learn about one of the oldest forms of manufacturing – metalcasting. 🎉🔥🐦🔥 We walk you through milestones in the metalcasting industry and the role Grede plays today as the biggest ductile iron manufacturer in the U.S. We continue to make big investments in technology and our workforce so we can keep growing. Grede is leading the industry in advanced manufacturing and innovation, robotics, 3D printing, smart manufacturing, IoT, and Industry 4.0. On Manufacturing Day, we celebrate our 3,000 team members for making our achievements possible. Thank you to our fantastic team for everything you do for Grede. #ManufacturingDay #Metalcasting #Technology #GoFurtherWithGrede
Congratulations to four Grede plants for receiving safety awards from the American Foundry Society! 🏆🎉 Safe Year Awards were given to Grede for achieving one year without a lost-time incident at our foundries in Biscoe, North Carolina; Iron Mountain, Michigan; and New Castle, Indiana. Grede Browntown in Wisconsin was recognized with the Safety Innovation & Insight Award for their continuous improvement project that reduced hand and finger injuries by 77% in their blast and grind department. Fantastic work to these teams for putting safety first. This recognition is a testament to our safety culture and the proactive measures taken to ensure the well-being of our team members. By prioritizing safety, these foundries protect their team members and set an industry standard for others to follow. Their dedication to continuous improvement and innovation in safety is truly commendable and serves as an inspiration. #SafetyFirst #SafetyCulture #InjuryPrevention #SafeYearAward #SafetyInnovationAward

Grede hosted its second-annual Melt Night at the University of Northern Iowa and attended UNI’s career fair at the end of September. 🔥👨🎓 The career fair was highly successful – we received several applicable candidates for our Grede Grad and internship programs. Near the end of the career fair, our booth was full of students eager to learn more about Grede. Grede Grad Alex Hohbein is a recent graduate from UNI who worked the booth and the melt night alongside Senior Product Engineer Patrick Kluesner and Grede Grad Garrett Starkman. Our Grede Melt Night was also a hit. During melt night, UNI students, their families, professors, and Grede team members created iron metal coasters and spread knowledge about the foundry industry. UNI is a Grow with Grede partner school, and their Metalcasting and Foundry 4.0 Centers are certified by the Foundry Educational Foundation. We look forward to co-hosting a melt night again with UNI and continuing the partnership. Grede is always looking to cultivate a strong and inspired workforce. Investing in people and their strengths is a top priority for Grede. This partnership and the #GrowWithGrede early career talent development strategy showcase our commitment to excellence. #GrowWithGrede #MeltNight #UniversityPartnerships #CultivatingAStrongWorkforce
Last week, Grede proudly presented at the annual ENERGY STAR Industrial Partner Meeting in Nashville, TN. 📢 During the meeting, Tyler Hill, Grede’s Group VP of Operations, shared our innovative use of additive manufacturing with 3D-printed sand cores. This project generated enough savings in electricity to power 8,147 homes for an entire year! It also saved 8.6 million gallons of water and 327,000 MCF of natural gas. Each year, ENERGY STAR professionals gather to recognize achievements, benchmark progress, and share best practices in energy efficiency over the past year. Approximately 400 professionals attended this year from renowned companies such as Bristol-Myers, Colgate, Nissan, and Celanese. Thank you, ENERGY STAR, for having us. See you next year. 👋 #EnergyEfficiency #3DPrinting #AdditiveManufacturing #CleanEnergyFuture #CastingABrighterFuture
Hear from three of eight Grad Grads to learn about the Grede Grad Program, our two-year, post-graduate rotational program designed to train future managers. 🎓🪴 Thank you to Chris Mercado, Garrett Starkman, and Brennon Pelland for sharing your insights and experiences. We’re lucky to have them on the team! In the video, Chief Administrative Officer Matt Hladki guides the conversation on why others should consider growing with Grede as a Grede Grad. The intent of the Grede Grad program is to invest in the future. We’re planting seeds for our team members to grow from within. #GrowWithGrede #GredeGrads #TalentDevelopment #InvestingInTheFuture
Yesterday, we sponsored and participated in the American Foundry Society's annual Foundry Leadership Summit. As a gold sponsor, we proudly supported the event and contributed to pivotal discussions surrounding the future of the foundry industry. Our Chief Technology Officer, Susan Bear, shared insights on a panel exploring the opportunities and challenges for metalcasters next year. The panel discussed the dynamic interplay of the Environmental Protection Agency's evolving role, the impact of tariffs, and the integration of technology and IoT, sketching out the market’s trajectory for the coming year. This conversation underscored that all foundries are facing the same challenges. Beyond the panel, Grede was at the forefront of discussions around technology, Industry 4.0, and cultivating talent—which are all aspects of Grede’s five strategic imperatives. Thank you to AFS for another excellent summit! #FoundryIndustry #FoundryOfTheFuture #FoundryLeadership #GoFurtherWithGrede
Grede New Castle supported the "Fire Up Dwntwn" event in Downtown Muncie, Indiana. 🔥🎇 We proudly donated iron for the Liquid Fire Iron Pour portion to showcase the metalworking skills in the foundry industry. The sizzling summer event was packed with engaging activities and attractions for the whole family, including hot air balloons, spicy foods, smokin’ ribs, fireworks, and more. Mike Stanley, Foundry Engineering Manager (pictured on the left), and Jim Cree, Metallurgist (on the right) from Grede New Castle, had a great time attending the event. We’re pleased to support our vibrant local community. Thank you to Muncie Downtown Development Partnership for hosting this event. As the kids say, it was pure fire. 😆 #GredeNewCastle #FireUpDWNTWN #CommunitySpirit #MuncieIndiana
