🚨 Safety Spotlight! Shoutout to La Porte, IN, team members, Michael and Daryl, for taking swift action when they noticed excessive dust and smoke at the Fox and Hunter saws. Instead of pushing through, they hit pause and alerted supervision, activating our STOP process to protect both coworkers and equipment. Thanks to their quick thinking, the issue was resolved before any harm could occur. This is what safety leadership looks like 👏
The Howmet African Heritage and Women's Networks contributed a $20,000 sponsorship to Chosen for the Arts to support a back-to-school initiative called Touring Toward Tomorrow. This event was created to assist families working in Savannah’s tourism and hospitality sectors, many of whom are unable to attend traditional supply giveaways due to demanding and inflexible work schedules. Using a mobile, trolley-based distribution model, the initiative delivered school supplies directly to families. Items included uniforms, STEAM-focused educational materials, and creative tools, ensuring children were equipped for academic success. The event also served as a demonstration of Howmet Aerospace’s commitment to supporting local communities. Organizers emphasized that this mobile model is gaining traction nationwide, offering a practical solution for parents in industries with nontraditional hours—not only in tourism, but also in manufacturing and other shift-based work environments. The initiative reflects a broader movement toward meeting families where they are and ensuring equitable access to essential resources.
Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) Melbourne recently hosted a spirited 5S competition, sparking enthusiasm and teamwork across the site. Six employee-led teams took on tagged zones in need of decluttering, organization, and cleaning—focusing on the first three steps of the 5S methodology: Sort, Set, and Shine. Red tag areas, identified as critical zones with unused items, were addressed in coordination with local experts, resulting in safer, more efficient workspaces. The initiative not only improved the physical environment but also fostered collaboration, strategic thinking, and shared best practices. The Warehouse Team emerged as the winner, recognized for their exceptional coordination and execution. The challenge left a lasting impact by boosting morale, strengthening team spirit, and reinforcing Howmet’s commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
The LaPorte Chapter of the Howmet Veteran’s Network in Indiana proudly led the charge at this year’s Independence Day celebration, showcasing the spirit of teamwork and community at the 79th Annual LaPorte Fourth of July Parade. For the first time ever, the team went down the parade route with a Howmet Aerospace Semi, a powerful and eye-catching addition that turned heads and symbolized the bold innovation of our organization. Accompanied by three roaring motorcycles, the procession was a true show of pride and unity. Participation wasn’t limited to just HVN members or those on vehicles. Over 40 employees at HES LaPorte and their family members joined in as walkers, banner carriers, and supported by handing out candy along the parade route!
Our Savannah Operations team marked Amelia Earhart Day with a thrilling paper airplane making contest. Employees showcased their creativity by crafting paper airplanes aiming for the longest flight.
